I was privileged to have been asked by Angela to prepare for publication, the report of the 2001 conference in Guyana on development and equity. In working with her, I could not help but be struck by her quiet strength, grace and determination, in the midst of soul-destroying adversity, to do all that she could to make our region and our world a better place for all. Angela was a special person and one of a handful of people for whom I have had unreserved respect and admiration.
