I was deeply saddened to hear this news. I first met Angela at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Bangkok in 2004, where I had the privilege of assisting her on the Programme Committee. I was deeply inspired by how she carried herself and worked and interacted with everyone around her. And her gentleness, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. We kept in touch via email over the years, and when I last met her in 2009 at Copenhagen, she was kind to take out the time to speak to me and enquire about my work.
